Grapes: Riesling Style: Orange ABV: 12% Any added sulphites: No Filtered: No Method: Biodynamic Size: 75cl
Riesling grown by Phillipe Brand in Ergersheim, Alsace. There is a beautiful depth and richness to the fruit here, which is framed by just the right amount of tannin. Medium body, medium acidity, and beautifully balanced to give this wine a wonderful texture. Notes of tangerine and spiced bread; with hints of orange peel, clove and eucalyptus, and lots of stone minerality in the finish.
The biodynamic grapes underwent whole bunch maceration for 15 days before being pressed and the juice transferred to steel tanks until May. The maceration has produced a pleasantly orange wine with noticeable, but not intrusive, tannins.
Despite having trained in Bordeaux and Burgundy, Alice Bouvot knew that when it came to starting her own domain, the Jura would be the place. In 2004 she started from scratch, buying a small cellar in the village of Arbois and a couple of hectares of vines in the hills surrounding. Vineyard work is done by hand and is both fanatical and fantastic, with biodynamic farming used to great effect in retaining a real biodiversity in the vineyard. After a number of lean vintages, Alice had to look further afield to make ends meet and now harvests grapes at trusted friend’s properties all over France, making an equally exciting range of negotiant wines.
