Half Way to Heaven is full of zippy ripe tropical and stone fruits on the nose with aromas of peach, pineapple and passionfruit. This is a delicious blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc from the Yarra Valley, with equal parts funk and fruit. It's an amber wine which doesn't let style get in the way of drinkability. There's plenty of palate-coating texture and a whisper of tannins but with a core of glorious ripe fruit which makes this blend very hard to put down. Nice gentle texture throughout, with vibrant acidity keeping everything clean. A well-balanced, deliciously approachable natural wine.
Xavier Goodridge ran a wine bar in London and travelled to Beaujolais, igniting in him a passion for all things vinous. On returning to his native Australia he decided he wanted to do more than just sell it, but wanted to make it too. After working with Pat Sullivan and a stint at Bress Estate in Harcourt, he began to release his own artisan wines made from grapes he’d bought. But the much anticipated 2018 wines are now made from grapes grown in his own organic vineyards.
