Powerful red berries on the nose, there is a sourness to this wine that is reminiscent of eating a freshly picked raspberry. The well balanced acidity and light tartness bring us pure, bright red glou glou. This bottle comes from very old bush wines and around 600m above sea level from the vineyards of Comadellops where the wolves roam.
The grapes are macerated for 1 week without pressing, the free run juice is bled off and then aged in amphora for 6 months before bottling.
Joan Franquet grew up in Priorat, during a long career in food exportation he always dreamed of returning to his rural roots, in particular that of winemaking. In 2009 Joan took the appropriate steps to pursue this dream, taking on old vines from his wife’s family in Conca de Barberà along with some of his own family’s vines in Priorat, he set up Costador Terroirs Mediterrani. Joan farms all his vines organically, the only intervention in vineyard is the use of pheromones to repel pests, a little copper and sulphur if and when needed and sometimes the use of sodium bicarbonate to prevent powdery mildew.
