Another superstar bottle from the brilliant Ameztoi winery! The region’s first rosé brings us powerful bursts of sour strawberry and lemon zest, with an everlasting minerality. So refreshing, each sip feels like walking through the mist of a waterfall.
The grapes are handpicked and combined for destemming; the white and red varieties working together, not separately. After direct pressing, fermentation with indigenous yeast occurs in stainless steel at 15° C for 20 days. Towards the end of alcoholic fermentation, the tanks are closed to preserve the naturally occurring carbonation, which is the preferred style of Getaria. The tanks are then kept chilled to near freezing before bottling, which preserves the wine’s delicate, effervescent character.
In the heart of the Getaria Txakoli denomination the Ameztoi Wine Cellar is situated with its vineyards fighting against the sea on dramatic cliffs. Ameztoi is a long-standing txakoli producer based in the coastal village of Getaria in the province of Gipuzkoa (Basque Country). Five generations of the Ameztoi family have tended vines and made wines in the area.
