Barvirka, pronounced “Bar-veeez-kah”. The name may me a tongue twister but the taste is a mouth pleaser! In Czech, Barvirka loosely means colour enhancer, hence its deep fuscha pigment. Despite its visual depth, this wine is light and cheerful with notes of cherry and plum paired with a slight earthy aftertaste. Low tannins, low alcohol and very, very high drinkability - also excellent chilled!
Nestarec is a young grower based in the Czech Republic, 15km from the Austrian border. Milan works with a host of varieties including Riesling, Neuburger, Welschriesling, Pinot Noir and the lesser known Hibernal. The yield is kept low and the focus is always on quality and expressing the full potential of each variety. All wines in the cellar are fermented spontaneously and they are usually vinified in oak and acacia barrels.
